Ridiculous Rituals...Hammering thoughts!

I have two elder sisters & as the society says they have attained "the marriageable age". Now the first thing that clicks my mind is-why this callous society that remains indifferent at most instances of pain, grief and need, suddenly becomes so concerned at the issue of marriage? "Your sisters/daughters have grown old, they are post 25, are you doing something? why are'nt you looking for prospective grooms? are the questions that we encounter just so often... Give us a break! I dont know if its their hunger for grand marriage feast, or the hunger for lovely social gossip that compells and reinforces them to keep shooting barrage of questions like these...Marriages should not be done just to discharge a social responsibility, it should be to find the right compatible companion, and when somebody is able to do that, next big thing you face is horoscope matches, caste uniformity, riti-rivaj, and the endless list of these giant sized issues goes on...My sister is a manglik and so is my companion. This social stigma has blocked my sister's way to happiness twice. On one hand we say "marriages are made in heaven", if this is the case, then let the individual find his/her own partner, how can you trample one's choice or decision of god (as we call as per hindu traditions) underfoot merely on the basis of a human made KUNDLI?How a person born on tuesday is different from a person born a person born on wednesday or any other day? Now let me apply some logic and common sense to defend my case... Person born on tuesday, i.e. manglik is considered to bring ill-luck if married to any other person than manglik, now tuesday is considered to be the day of Lord hanuman, as far as my sampling and observation techniques go, maximum turn- around in temples is on tuesday, its an auspicious day, then on what basis you consider a manglik person unfortunate?
These customs, traditions, cultures are themselves bot clear about anything and create a "catch 22" situation, so called vicious circle, you keep rotating around it and you will never be able to find an end to it. Ram and Sita had their 32 traits matched out of 36, which is said to be the best match ever, then why Sita had to go through exile, Agni-pariksha, Doubt on her character, and other such atrocious acts and situations? We can not call this a happy married life, ain't it?Just imagine, Today, in the 21st century, position of planets years ago, are deciding position of an individual in life... Thats why i feel this so called " marriageable age" of more of unmanageable... these customs, traditions are nothing but like a rocking horse, it keeps you going, but gets you no where...Our destiny lies in our own hands, still there will be millions of people who will take this sentence in an entirely different sense, searching their destiny in the "lines of their hands"...
